Our piano teachers teach a variety of styles from classical to popular music. Whether you want to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, our teachers are happy to help you become the pianist you want to be. Our piano faculty will help you with sight-reading, technique and theory, but they will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. You do not have to have a piano at home to take lessons. A simple, full size electronic keyboard (one that simulates piano action) will suffice for the first few years. Our piano teachers have warm personalities and enjoy sharing their love for the piano with you.

The Academy of Music offers both a traditional and non-traditional approach to piano instruction.  In addition, we offer a piano transitions class for preschoolers and kindergartners to help prepare them for more formal piano instruction. 

our non-traditional approach trains musicians who can hear what they play and play what they hear.  Lesson activities apply what current research says about how children best learn music and encourage students to listen, think, move, sing, and play. 

our piano Transitions Class is designed for 4-5-year-olds (Preschool, Young Fives or Kindergartners) to help prepare them for the Academy piano program.  Weekly 45-minute classes include singing, chanting, moving, responding to musical patterns, creating at the keyboard, and playing short pieces.  Activities are developmentally appropriate and help lay a strong musical foundation.  Classes help students organize and imitate musical patterns in music, sing in tune, move with the beat, and develop beginning piano technique and keyboard skills using rote instruction.

Tuition is $22.50 for a 30-min individual lesson or shared 45-minute lesson (charged monthly at $90)

                 $30 for a 40-min lesson or shared 60-min lesson (charged monthly at $120)

                 $45 for a 60-min individual lesson (charged monthly at $180)
