Our Great Strides Story

Join the Academy of Music in Grand Rapids team and help add tomorrows for Anders Townsend, son of Academy string teacher, Anna Townsend. There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with cystic fibrosis. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. The Great Strides fundraising campaign is a cause close to the heart of Academy of Music director, Barbara Hendricks.  Her sister Susan lived with CF from 1949-1958.  Anders Townsend was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis shortly after his June 2014 birth. Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By participating in the Great Stride fundraiser, we can help add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis. Will you join us By becoming a member of our team and making a donation, you are joining a growing group of people committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. Together, we are adding tomorrows to the lives of people living with CF by supporting the search for a cure. Help us reach our fundraising goal of $2,000! Your 100% tax deductible gift will add tomorrows to the lives of people with cystic fibrosis by supporting life-saving research and medical progress.
