What Is a Pop-Up Choir?

A Pop-Up Choir is a short-term choir experience built around a special theme, season, or performance opportunity. Instead of committing to a traditional full-year choir, students rehearse together for a limited number of weeks, learn a fun selection of music, and then share what they’ve learned through academy and community performances.

Each Pop-Up Choir features a different theme, giving kids the opportunity to sing with a group, build ensemble and performance skills, and experience the excitement of performing together.

Is Pop-Up Choir Right for Your Child?

Pop-Up Choir is recommended for students in Grades 4–8 who already have some singing or musical experience and are ready to enjoy making music as part of a group.

Students should be comfortable:

  • Matching pitch and carrying a melody
  • Following musical and rehearsal directions
  • Learning new songs at a steady pace
  • Singing and working together as an ensemble

No formal audition or music-reading experience is required. Current Academy of Music students may participate through a teacher recommendation, while new students may be asked to complete a brief, low-pressure voice check before enrollment is confirmed.
