Does my child need previous audition experience?
No. Private audition coaching is beneficial for both first-time performers and students with previous audition experience. Every coaching session is personalized to the student’s experience level, goals, and audition requirements.
How do I know which type of coaching my student needs?
We’ll help you determine the best fit. After learning about your student’s audition, we’ll recommend acting coaching, singing coaching, musical theatre coaching, or a combination of instructors when appropriate.
My student gets nervous during auditions. Can coaching help?
Absolutely. One of the biggest benefits of private audition coaching is helping students feel more confident and prepared. Through personalized instruction, practice, and mock auditions, students become more comfortable with the audition process and learn how to perform with greater confidence.
How many coaching sessions do you recommend?
That depends on your student’s experience level, goals, and how much time remains before the audition. Some students only need one focused session, while others benefit from multiple sessions to develop, practice, and refine their performance.
Can you help my student choose a monologue or audition song?
Yes. If your student hasn’t selected audition material yet, our instructors can help recommend appropriate monologues, songs, or other audition pieces based on the audition requirements and your student’s experience level.
What should my student bring to a coaching session?
If available, students should bring any audition materials they have, including monologues, scripts, sheet music, accompaniment tracks, audition instructions, and any time limits or performance requirements. If materials haven’t been selected yet, we’ll help guide that process.
Can my student prepare for both acting and singing in the same coaching session?
Yes. Many musical theatre auditions require both acting and singing. Depending on the audition, coaching may include one instructor or a combination of acting and voice instructors.
How far in advance should we schedule audition coaching?
The sooner, the better. Scheduling several weeks before an audition gives students time to practice, receive feedback, and continue improving between sessions. However, even a single coaching session can be valuable when audition day is approaching.
Is private audition coaching only for theatre auditions?
No. Private audition coaching can also help students preparing for choir auditions, show choir, performing arts programs, featured solos, self-taped auditions, and other performance opportunities.
Can my student take audition coaching even if they don’t take regular acting or voice lessons?
Absolutely. Private audition coaching is available to both Academy of Music students and new students. Coaching is personalized to each student’s goals and experience, regardless of previous training.
What ages do you recommend for private audition coaching?
Private audition coaching is appropriate for many school-age students and teens preparing for auditions. If you’re unsure whether coaching is right for your student, we’d be happy to discuss their goals and recommend the best option.
Is one coaching session enough?
Many students benefit from a single coaching session, especially for a specific audition. Others prefer multiple sessions to build confidence, refine their performance, and receive additional feedback before audition day. We’ll gladly recommend the option that’s best for your student.
Does audition coaching guarantee my student will get a role?
No. Casting decisions are made by the audition panel and depend on many factors. Our goal is to help your student feel well prepared, perform with confidence, and present their strongest audition.
How do we get started?
